A few weeks ago I woke up to my phone telling me it’s going to get up to 80 degrees! Immediately I thought “Oh my gosh, It’s May and I’m just now realizing summer is almost here? I suppose it’s time to start getting my body ready for the dreaded bathing suit!”
Almost every woman I know has dreaded getting into a bathing suit at one time or another. I never thought that day would come for me, but here I am at 35 rushing around to figure out how to get ready for summer in a few weeks. If only I had worked out routinely during the winter! After being hard on myself for a bit, I started to think more positive. I don’t have to be perfect. I just need to find small ways to help me feel good about my body. The following are a few ways I’ve started to prepare.
Complexion
I’m not only white, I’m pale white. My legs show every imperfection and every hair that I miss shaving! While some may embrace it, and I envy them, a little tan has always given me a confidence boost. As a mom of two littles, having time to get to the tanning bed is just not an option. Plus, I know going consistently isn’t very healthy for my skin.
So, I went searching for a self tanner to give me some color, and found one that works well without streaks or an orange tint. I can use it for a couple days and instantly see some color. Everyone’s skin is different, but Tan Physics gave me the quick glow I needed. This is a lotion as well as a tanner. Therefore, I use it in the evenings after I shower for moisturizing and tanning. I wash my hands after applying it, and I’ve never had even a hint of orange on me. If you are very pale, it will take a week or so of using it to get the desired natural look.

Skin Toning
Like I said in my first paragraph, "if only I had worked out during the winter." I got some color to feel more confident, but I still noticed the dimples on my thighs, and I was not amused! I'm not typically one to try a billion different products, but I had a recommendation from a wonderful friend. Thank God for her, because Arbonne's Advanced Firming Body Cream really made a difference in my skin imperfections. Obviously, it doesn't happen over night, but after a week of using it at morning and night I began to see changes I was hoping for.

Comfy Clothing
Now that I had the complexion and toning issue solved, or at least in the works, I needed to go through my closet. When I was younger and only had myself to worry about, I didn't mind wearing something that looked great, yet wasn't comfortable. Now that I'm running around taking care of two toddlers, I just want to be in comfy clothes. I could stay in leggings with t-shirts all day long, but that wouldn't do much for my confidence. I decided to start wearing more summer dresses. These Athletic Knotted Dresses are not only breathable and super comfy, they also can be sporty or dressy! My favorite is the blue because it brings out the tan in my skin better. I can wear this dress with tennis shoes or flip flops for a sporty look; or I could wear some wedges and add a pair of earrings to wear to dinner.

These are just a couple steps I have taken to give myself the confidence I need for summer time. And don't forget, if you don't feel like fixing your hair or wearing make-up, just throw on a hat and pair of sunglasses. ;)
